2026 single-shift CBT · five timed groups

The bulletin specifies Groups A–E, 36 questions and 42 minutes each. The next group opens only when the preceding timer ends; earlier answers cannot then be changed. NBEMS reserves the option to vary the actual number of timed sections for operational reasons.

Key rules and selection stages

The 2026 bulletin specifies 180 English-only, four-option MCQs in 3 hours 30 minutes, with +4 correct, −1 incorrect and zero unattempted. Older 200-question summaries do not describe this 2026 scheme.
NBEMS's 24 September result notice gives the 2026 category-wise qualifying marks shown below. They are separate from the marks needed for a particular college, specialty, quota or counselling round; subsequent official changes must be checked.
